In celebration of their engagement, Jonathan & Caroline covered a song close to their hearts, “We Could” originally recorded by John Prine & Iris DeMent for the album “In Spite of Ourselves”.
This cover is a big leap in comfort zone for them both, though they both have backgrounds leading to its making. Caroline had many childhood years of choir & Jonathan recorded an album of country covers with his grandmother before her passing. These familial elements make this cover that much more special to them both. The musicians who played with Jonathan on the record will be playing the wedding.
Long before this idea, Caroline made a painting of the album cover as a birthday gift for Jonathan in 2021, putting themselves in place of the figures from the original.
The disc artwork is by their dear friend Garrett who photographed the painting on the train tracks behind their house.
Caroline illustrated and Jonathan hand printed the record cover.
